We have limited capacity, so this event is only for people who applied and registered to YC Hacks. If you've already registered for YC Hacks, then we're excited to see you on Saturday. If not, hopefully we'll see you at the next one.
@YCombinator, I noticed that the registration deadline on YC website is June 27. If I applied on ChallengePost( not YC website) after June 27, can I participate the Hackthon? Thanks. (I'll definitely appear at the Hackthon!)
@walnutown + @jjliu7 You needed to apply via the Wufoo form and then RSVP via the form that we sent around. If you didn't do that, then unfortunately we can't accommodate you at YC Hacks. We only have space for about 400 and are only letting people in who have registered through our system.
challengepost or yc should make it clear on the hackathon details page that you need to signup at 2 places. Or really signup at one place only, since registering on challenge post is moot. What use is challenge post then, really (just a lead generator)? I registered for another hackathon via challenge post and had to signup again on the hackathon page. (Sabre)
Hey Sabre,
The below note is included on the hackathon details page. We used ChallengePost so that the people who applied and were accepted had a place to meet teammates.
It's also a place where people can showcase what they're building. But you're right - I'd have preferred an option to make our page private, or only available to attendees.

PLEASE NOTE: YC Hacks is only open to people who have registered through YC's system. We have a limited amount of space and can only accommodate the people who have been accepted + notified.
It's ok. I understand that this is a super popular hackathon and that you'd eventually run out. I'm just sad I missed out (and could have been there). Best of luck to everyone who got thru.

@gpop I'd email kat@ycombinator.com...but probably a No (you need to be in Mountain View for the hackathon).

That's correct. You need to be in Mountain View for the hackathon.

Our team is based in San Francisco, and will be able to join the hack-a-thon in person.
